How to use reels as a beauty pro
Reels. Reels. Reels. If you’ve scrolled on Instagram at any time in the past year and a half, you’ve seen an Instagram reel. So what are they? Reels are vertical, 60 second (or less), videos on Instagram. Since their release, users that have incorporated IG reels into their strategy have seen major success and there are a few reasons why. First, video content is usually more engaging than static posts. Secondly, Instagram shows reels to users who don’t follow you using the reels feed thus getting new eyes on your content. If you haven’t started using reels to promote your beauty business online, now is the time.
Before creating and posting your first reel, there are some best practices you should keep in mind.
All reels should be shot vertically.
Reels can be up to 60 seconds. While 10 - 20 seconds seems to be the sweet spot, if you’re going to use the full 60 seconds, be sure to keep your audience engaged until the end.
Use trending songs and sounds to get more eyes on your video. (These sounds have an arrow next to them)
When possible, add text and subtitles to your video to make them accessible and keep viewers engaged.
Now that you know the basics, you’re ready to make reels for your beauty business. Here are three reel ideas to get started with.
Before & After - Stitch together a video of your client before their service and after their service.
Salon tours - Take your followers on a tour of your salon and get them excited for their next appointment.
Educate - Make a video showing how you use your favorite products and tools in the salon.
Adding reels to your Instagram strategy will keep your current audience engaged while getting new eyes on your content. For more reels ideas and trends sign up for my newsletter here where I send trending reel ideas for beauty pros directly to your inbox.
